In January 2006 Mr Miller received some money from his late father’s estate. Lloyds TSB suggested he spoke to a financial adviser and he was quite happy to do this.  The adviser recommended that Mr Miller should invest £100,000 into a Flexible Options Bond and Mr Miller followed his advice.

However, Mr Miller was very concerned when he saw the value of his investment falling, particularly as he told the adviser that he couldn’t afford to lose this money. He felt he had no other option but to cash in his investment leaving him with a substantial loss.

Mr Miller approached Goodwin Barrett and asked for our assistance.  We investigated Mr Miller’s situation and it was clear that the adviser had not taken his full circumstances into consideration when making his recommendations.

We reported our findings to Lloyds TSB and Mr Miller was over the moon when we were able to get him some compensation, interest and a refund of his losses totalling £37,900.
